How do I apply for a medical cannabis patient card? 

Nebraska does not issue medical cannabis patient cards. Patients must obtain a written recommendation from a licensed practitioner in Nebraska in order to access medical cannabis.

Where can I get medical cannabis in Nebraska?

There are currently no medical cannabis dispensaries licensed by the NMCC in Nebraska. For the latest updates, please check this page or join one of the Commission’s public meetings to stay informed.

How do I apply to become a licensed medical cannabis provider (such as a cultivator, manufacturer, transporter, or dispensary)?

To become a licensed medical cannabis provider (such as a cultivator, manufacturer, transporter, or dispensary), you must apply during an official application period established by the Commission.
The application period for cultivators has closed; it ran from September 4 through September 23, 2025, and applications are no longer being accepted. Application periods for manufacturers, transporters, and dispensaries have not yet opened and remain pending legislative action. The Commission will announce timelines and provide application materials for these license types once they become available.
To stay informed, attend the Commission’s public meetings, where updates and decisions about the licensing process are shared, and check the website periodically for new information.

What fees are associated with each license type?

At this time, there are no fees associated with any medical cannabis license types. However, pending legislation (LB 1235) may establish application and licensing fees in the future. Applicants are encouraged to review the Commission’s current regulations and check for updates regularly to stay informed of any changes.
